You don’t need special art materials to make art! You might be stuck at home, but you can still be creative! Artists like Andy Goldsworthy use natural found objects to create amazing works of art. For this assignment, you will go outside and explore the world around you for materials. Click on the PDF above for the project details.

The Art of Folding Paper

Origami is the ancient Japanese art of paper folding.

The art of folding paper challenges us at a cognitive level and the result can be addictively satisfying. This project is great for developing fine motor skills and will help increase concentration and focus.

Although it can be challenging, many people find that origami can be relaxing and meditative.

Presentations are a great tool to use in the classroom while lecturing. I like to use lots of pictures and examples of what I'm talking about to give the kids something to look at and keep them engaged during the lecture. Impressionism is one of my favorite styles of art. I made this "Impressionism World Tour" project in PowerPoint and it would be fun to combine this lesson with a field trip and take along packet.

Color Theory PODCAST

Podcasts are a great tool to use inside the classroom because students respond well and enjoy them. Once I make one on a specific subject, like color theory, I can use it as a tool every time I teach the subject. I tried to make it funny and fun for my students to enjoy. Adding humor is a great way to catch the student's attention and keep them engaged during important content. I added lots of visual examples of art to go along with the audio. I am happy with how it turned out and I look forward to making more podcasts in the future.

ANIMATION

This project is awesome! I absolutely love short animations. This project was very time consuming but fun. I wrote a short script and then did all of the artwork. I used bristol paper, watercolors, and markers. Then I took over 275 pictures on my phone while moving the cutouts very little for each picture. Once all of that was complete, it was just a matter of uploading everything and editing it on the computer.

I can see myself doing this project for a more advanced art class. It would be perfect for a computer class and would be a good way to teach students about iMovie and editing.

HOW TO TIE DYE

I had a lot of fun with this project because I love to do Tie Dye! I'm very glad that I learned how to use I-Movie in Art 305 because it is such a great tool to have as a teacher and as an artist. "How to" videos are perfect for learning a new skill. It is a great tool to use in the classroom because the students will not have to crowd around me and try to see me do a demonstration over and over for each assignment. It is also helpful to them because they can look it up on YouTube and play it any time they need a refresher.
